The Diesel Maintenance Manager oversees all maintenance operations for the company’s heavy-duty diesel fleet. This role is responsible for maximizing fleet uptime, controlling maintenance costs, ensuring DOT compliance, and leading shop personnel. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong diagnostic skills and proven experience managing technicians in a fast-paced fleet environment.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure high fleet availability through effective preventative maintenance and repair programs
Supervise the development of shop and repair program.
Oversee diagnostics and major repairs (engine, transmission, PTO, hydraulics, electrical, air brakes)
Manage maintenance budgets and track cost per mile/hour
Maintain accurate service records and ensure DOT compliance
Coordinate with vendors and manage parts inventory
Implement safety standards and enforce shop procedures
Reduce road calls and recurring mechanical failures through root cause analysis
