The Formula 1L was introduced late in 1996. They were in a sense 'prototypes' to see how the public would take to a satin finish on the guitar. The 1L is a J-30 with a reverse belly bridge and different tuners.

According to Gibson, they only produced 100 of this mode. This was the only time that Gibson did the formula models. As you can see, mine is #79.

I purchased new from the "House of Guitars" in Rochester NY.
