•Preferred Experience • 1–2 years of Ortho Assisting experience required
• Experience with: • Bracket bonding & debonding assistance • Archwire changes, ligature placement, elastics, separators
• Taking alginate and digital impressions • Taking panoramic, cephalometric, and intraoral X-rays • Orthodontic records (photographs, scans, molds) • Fabrication of study models • Maintaining orthodontic instruments and supply inventory
• Sterilization and operatory turnover • Familiarity with orthodontic appliances such as: • Expanders • Space maintainers
• Retainers • Bands & brackets • Invisalign or clear aligner systems (if applicable)
Key Skills & Competencies • Strong attention to detail • Ability to follow exact doctor instructions for clinical orthodontic procedures • Comfort working with pediatric through adult patients • Ability to keep patients calm and educated throughout appointments • Strong time-management skills to keep the schedule moving efficiently • Positive attitude, team-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment • Strong charting and documentation skills• Ability to assist with treatment planning, chairside explanations, and patient education
Additional Expectations • Maintain a clean, organized orthodontic bay • Ensure all instruments, trays, and materials are prepared before patient arrival • Communicate clearly with the front desk regarding scheduling needs • Follow all OSHA and infection control protocols • Participate in continuing education, team meetings, and training sessions • Support the doctor with high-quality orthodontic care focused on patient comfort and long-term results• Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance • High School Diploma or GED• Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
