I purchased this BMW Z4 eight years ago. It was first my BMW and it made driving fun again. It also led me to buy a BMW 330i and a ZHP. It's a great car and it's in very good condition, but I rarely drive it. I've put less than 20k miles on it in the eight years that I've owned it. So I'm selling it because we have four cars and a very small driveway.
I'm the third owner. I've stored it every winter and the previous owner, who had it for six or seven years, didn't drive it in the winter either. So it's rust-free. And to help keep it that way I had it undercoated by Krown rust proofing last year.
I took care of some common BMW problems right after I purchased it: the valve cover gasket and upper intake boot were replaced and the brakes were flushed. The front control arm bushings and the rear shocks were replaced about 10k miles ago because I want my BMWs to handle like they're new. It also got new tires about 17k miles ago and there's lot of life left in the brakes. I started having problem with the remote door locks, another common BMW problem, so the lock control module was professionally repaired about 3 years ago.
The car was just inspected in July.
The engine compartment is overdue for some minor cleaning, but it still looks like it's almost brand new.
The convertible top motor has been relocated to the trunk to prevent a common problem that most Z4s with a soft top have or will have. The drainage holes where the motor is located tend to get clogged up, causing water to get in a cup that holds the motor and provides some sound deadening. The water eventually causes the motor and the convertible top to stop working. The manual release for the top also tends to seize up by then because of a lack of use.
I have a complete list of all the maintenance and repairs that I've done to the car, along with the receipts. I also have the Carfax that I got before purchasing the car.
The bad stuff:
The previous owner and the Carfax never mentioned any damage. But an experienced body shop tech pointed out that the car has had some paint work done on the front, but you'll probably never be able to tell. I suspect it made contact with a deer at some point.
The hood has some spots on it that the previous owner claimed were tree sap. I'm not sure of that and I haven't tried to remove them myself or take it to a detail shop. The car has some scratches under the front spoiler that aren't very noticeable. The car also came from the previous owner with some yellow paint on the bottom of one fender that came from driving over freshly painted road lines.
This spring a small branch must have fallen on the hood and caused a small dent, which can probably be removed inexpensively by someone who does paint-less dent repair.
Four years ago I had the front windshield replaced because it was pitted by road dust. About a week later the brand-new windshield got chipped by a stone right in front of the driver. I had it repaired to make certain it wouldn't spread, but it's there.
I'm located near Baytowne Plaza and you can see the car almost anytime with a reasonable amount of notice.
