Exxon Esso 1940’s Tiger Sign - $3,000 (Spencerport)

1940’s Put a Tiger in you tank sign $3000.

Very large, very hard to find Esso Tiger advertising sign. Almost 4' x 5'- 45" x 54".Humble Oil introduced the tiger as an somewhat ferocious advertising image in the 30's, and reintroduced it in the 60's as a kinder, friendlier tiger, that was the symbol for the Esso Gas "Put a Tiger in Your Tank" advertising campaign. They produced a plethora of images and products with the tiger image for this campaign over the years, from drinking glasses and tiger banks to corporate images for local and international advertising. Few of these cardboard signs survived, for obvious reasons, and this one is in very good shape for it's age and use. Constructed of heavy cardboard cut in the shape of the tiger's head, printed with the image of the winking tiger , and the tag line- "Here's That Tiger!".
