Please save this classic and get it back where it belongs on the water!
I picked up this great 16' wooden lapstrake runabout with high hopes of saving and restoring yet another classic as I have done many times in the past but I have to let someone else have the joy and pleasure.
After a lot of research (like 3 years ago when I picked it up) I strongly believe it is a 1960 Grady White classic lapstrake boat. The most important thing with these boats is a good solid transom/stringers/ribs/floor with no dry rot and this one is really good in that regard.
There are only a few of the ribs needing some very tiny attention(as in sistering) but the transom and stringers/keel/bottom are nice. The top front deck plywood will need replacement with marine plywood but original is there tho partially taken off.
Windshield... The 4 parts of the windshield have been removed and in fine shape including the original glass(wrapped up and sorry should have shown pics). There is also a box with some extraneous parts like lights(bow.rear.spotlight etc). Original steering wheel and cable/pulley system is still in place.
I have had it stored very well and dry for the last couple of years...just some leaves blew in the back but no water has ever sat in it.
*************The trailer IS NOT INCLUDED... I need it for a Sunfish Sailboat.******* (but maybe I could deliver if close)
I went thru the NY State Parks department and got a hull ID number for classic boats and registered it with DMV as a 1960 Grady White (which I am pretty sure it is) and have transferable registration.
If you are into saving these classics from the dump or burn pile and back on the water,,,,, with a little bit of work it can be.
I also picked up an early 60s Merc 50 hp for it and spent some time tuning and getting it running at that time on a hose in backyard. Though I dont know if I can find and provide the throttle control box ... I do have a wiring harness with ignition and key included that I used when getting it running. ( if interested I will include it for some cheap extra ... not sure what yet).
Please let me know if you are interested in having a look and text me anytime.
Asking ONLY $200 for boat which is foolish but have to share it with someone to restore. If you want the 50hp 60s Merc 500 we can talk.
With the solid floor and transom and a little bit of work on replacing the plywood deck and some elbow grease (Like all wooden boats always need) Please start with a text with Grady in it and NO I won't take less. Thanks Tim
