This is an original printing of a history of Rochester, NY from 1895. It was published by the Rochester Post Express newspaper. The author is listed on the back of the title page in very tiny print as John Devoy. There are chapters on Municipal government, the Fire Department and schools, including colleges. There is a long chapter on churches of Rochester. Lots of information on lawyers and doctors.
As was the fashion with histories during this era, there are biographies of citizens. Some of which may have been paid to be included. Really unique is 3 short biographies of women; Susan B. Anthony, Jean Brooks Greenleaf, and M. Jeanette Ballantyne,
This book is approx. 12 x 9.5 inches with 286 pages. It is hard covered.
There is some minor creasing on the bottom outside corner of the pages. Also note that the back cover has cracked from the binding (see last picture). You could use some book tape to fix that or just leave it like I have.
