The full title of this book is: "History of Monroe County, New York [1788-1877]; with Illustrations. Descriptive of its Scenery, Palatial Residences, Public Buildings, Fine Blocks and Import Manufactories, with original sketches by Artists of the Highest Ability." It was edited by Prof. W. H. McIntosh.
This is an original edition from 1877, NOT a reprint. A friend thinks this one has been rebound but I'm NOT sure.If it was rebound, it was a long time ago as the end papers match the pages in the book.
This is a great history of Monroe County. A lot of the text in this book ends up in later histories of Rochester and the County. Lots of illustrations. None are photos as photos weren't able to be reproduced in books at that time. These are all drawn illustrations, some of which are very detailed. Some are illustrations of a home or farm and the owners of the property..
The last section of the book has a list of veterans of the Civil War (by Town).
This is a LARGE book. It is approx. 12 x 14 inches and has 320 pages.
