This is an original "Chatellerault" French military bayonet. The bayonet features riveted brass and wooden grips with locking lug. Metal quillon and muzzle ring showing issue number and manufacture stamps. the bayonet measures 25 inches long. The triangular blade is dated 1888, measures 20 1/2" long and is in excellent condition with no wear, nicks or damage to the blade surface. The scabbard has rust but is in otherwise good working condition.
