This is a unique chimney coal iron. The top portion separates from the base by pulling a pin at the back. Load up the interior with burning coals and replace the cover. An inlet at the rear brings in air for combustion and exhaust exits thru the chimney. There is a heat shield below the wooden hand hold to keep your fingers from crisping. Stamped with a #4.

Someone painted (whitewashed?) this along the way. I am leaving it as-is. Could be cleaned up with a wire brush and rust remover and painted or “blued” if desired.

Would make a great display piece. Could also use as a door stop - it weighs over 6 lbs. Shipping available with payment by PayPal.
