Solid steel mechanisms for seat height, back tilt, back tilt tension, etc. -- all fully functional. The metal surfaces are passivated, rust-free, and in original unlubricated condition. All four original caster wheels in fully functional condition.
Some signs of cosmetic wear enhance the antique look. Item is fully operational including height adjustment, reclining back, and reclining back tensioning spring.
As a testimony to the longevity of furniture construction from this age, the item is extremely solid; there is nothing loose, separated or weak in the construction of the mechanism, it's attachment to the wood, or the wood to wood joining pieces.
For its age, and compared to similar items, this piece is considered in excellent condition.
