Brother Wease may have been liberal, but his radio show was a typical "morning zoo" -- it wasn't about politics. It was about anything topical - music, comedy, sex, etc. The true progressive political shows are national, not local. And here in Rochester, they were only on 950 AM - the station that is changing its format tomorrow.
From the first day that station went to a progressive format it was NEVER promoted in Rochester. Entercom didn't have that station sponsor events, no advertising, no bumper stickers, no t-shirts, no contests -- everything that stations do to pull in listeners, they avoided doing. So all listeners had to "stumble" onto the station. They have blamed the lack of advertising income on the low transmitter power. I'm not kidding. I called the station and was told that. If that's the case, why not fix the transmitter?
In cities across the country, progessive talk stations are being added at a frantic pace. If people weren't listening, why would more and more stations be moving to that format? It may not be Air America, but take a look at the Jones Radio Network website. They are adding stations and they syndicate three of the shows that were heard in Rochester - Stephanie Miller, Bill Press and Ed Schultz.
