Engineering Manager & Control Engineer - Automation Controls (Rochester, NY)
Background Information:
Our client, a local manufacturer, is seeking a Manager to oversee the Automation Controls Engineering department. This position is currently vacant and our client is moving quickly.
Position Description:
Reporting in to the Vice President, the Automation Controls Engineering Manager will Direct and manage Controls Engineering personnel in the design of hardware and software of industrial controls for custom automated test and assembly machines.
Primary responsibilities are as follows:
- Develop project criteria and direct control system activities to meet customer expectations of quality, cost and schedule
- Actively manages the customer relationship to convey support approaches, technical direction, and promote customer confidence; lead technical discussions with customers on critical design issues.
- Establish technical direction while creating and implementing a vision for continual improvement of product and processes at a detail level as well as higher organizational level
- Coordinate with the internal departments to determine project team members, assignments and responsibilities; resolve internal and external requirements disputes, establish technical direction.
- Interpret and understand how various issues ranging from contract procurement, engineering design, materials, assembly, production, inspection, testing, and shipping affect products and programs.
- Interviewing, hiring, and training employees of Controls Engineers
Appraising performance; employee discipline; addressing complaints and resolving issues
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
Qualifications:
All applicants possessing a BS in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and at least 5 years of Manufacturing management experience are encouraged to apply. Prior experience in Industrial Controls Engineering preferred.
